Hi How do you hire a b2b sales person, who can sell to seo & web development agencies?

1. Does he/she have a basic knowledge of the industry? B2B sales are hard as that choice will impact a business, a minimum knowledge is needed to create that trust factor (especially for initial cold calls) 2. Does he/she have a blackbook of clients? 3. Does he/she have references you can contact to be sure he/she sold in the previous company? 4. very low fixed salary and very high bonuses are the best combination a. you sell, you make s**tload of money b. you don’t sell you barely pay your bills 5. Is he/she capable of finding new ways to scale the first contact processes?

@Gu Riva Thanks for the tips. These would be really helpful, I'm looking on LinkedIn, I saw some websites which act as a platform to hire sales rep, some of them are commissions only. Not sure how impactful they would be.

Especially if this is the first sales person you hire better to invest in their hiring and if it’s commissions only you have “nothing to lose” if they refer shitty contacts
“nothing to lose” = your time to evaluate them

@Abhishek Guha Roy As someone who does SEO for a living and has seen sales organizations fail with over 70 SDRs, make sure your salespeople know about SEO, how your offering helps, and they understand basic SEO strategy. A good SEO has a great sense to smell BS, close the door, and share the story.
