This is what I learned from my first video to organically hit 100 views...
The new YouTube algorithm seems to put big and small channels on equal footing
Your video can get suggested on the front page regardless of how many subscribers you have
The new algorithm looks at user profile
For example, I'm targeting people who are interested in learning about marketing
YouTube then makes a guess on whether a particular person fits that profile based on their watch and behaviour history
It measures how guess is by showing the video and whether the person they're guessing follows the expected behaviours
My big hypothesis on viewer preference is that production quality matters, that's why I invested heavily into my equipment
People prefer quality content with a polished production
Of course, this is not a requirement, many smaller channels and videos do well with much smaller production
Lastly, I've been doing extensive video title and thumbnail optimization, emulating the thumbnail style of some top YouTube channel and others that I admire
It's helped a lot with the click through rate

It is a demo of a spreadsheet that I coded to generate blog posts automatically IN BULK!
