Hi, I am a founder of SaaS startup that helps small business owner, freelancer and consultants in Invoicing. I can see many marketing channels like email marketing, Google/LinkedIn Ads, Link building, Affiliate marketing, LinkedIn outreach, Content marketing. But I have a limited budget. I would like to understand from where startup should start? Which channel will be best to get started?
c
Hello. If I get you correctly, you'd want to know this for the SaaS product.
m
Yes, for SaaS product
n
It depends how big is your budget and where is your audience. Things like link building are more of a long-term strategy. If you're aiming for a quick wins maybe start with Linkedin outreach combined with content on Linkedin (both, from personal and company page)
Also, communities like Reddit, Slack may be a good way to start
m
+1 for reddit and slack communities. But reddit is quite strict when it comes to promotional message. May be i will need to create message that don't sound promotional.

Let's leave affiliate marketing for now. You can return to it when you have gained some traction. Linked building will help your website ranking potential. But it's long term. Your SaaS on the other hand needs short term campaigns (3-6 months) to fire up your audience engagement and gain you some social proof. Email marketing has to be done right or it's a huge waste for you. Google Ads is gold. It can really help your strategy. Must be done right bur it's not as complicated as email marketing. Haven't used LinkedIn ads but should work like the Google ads. All of these depend heavily on your budget.

Sorry, but the days where people take reddit seriously has passed.

@Mahavir Jain if the message is structured right, there will be no big deal to start on reddit 🙂 the most important thing is the approach you take tap into the community, start roaming around for a few days just to get the language of how people are talking and expressing and then start writing something... you can also look at the conversations related to your problem and then politely jump into the DM of the person talking about it, politely talking about the solution that you have for their problem
i've tried that approach and it worked for me
m
Yes, i tried email marketing but it's not working for me. I will seriously look into Google ads.

great, thanks @Nikola Vuckovic

@Nikola Vuckovic, the problem with reddit is almost the problem with Slack. Near zero engagement even for product testing. Only a few people give feedback even after DMing. You can't wait around for something to happen on here when you can make something happen.
n
The engagement is maybe lower compared to let's say 3 yrs ago, but from my recent efforts on Reddit i have a positive experience
m
You did all manually?
n
part of it
m
ok, can you help to understand which tool you have used? and any typical process you followed?
