Does anyone know how to track platform/tool signups that happen through the gmail integration?
m
I need the same thing pls
d
Should be doable in Google Analytics: https://roirevolution.com/blog/handling-email-referrals-in-google-analytics/. I’ve seen some data in HubSpot as first/revent conversion events or Original/Latest Source drill-down 1/2. I’m sure there are other analytics platforms that can track this, like PostHog maybe or Branch.io.

If you’re using Plausible, you can track urls as a conversion.
j
@Daniel Secareanu how did you initial set up that tracking? Do you have anything set up in Tag manager? Or is analytics automatically tracking this for you
d
@Jackson Griese, you got the wrong Daniel 😁

@Jackson Griese I haven’t done it myself, but I can try to recommend someone who’s good with this and might be able to help.
j
@Daniel Secareanu that would be great thank you. Outsourcing likely wouldn't be my first option but it might be nice to have the introduction as a potential option.

Can you detail a bit more how are you using the Gmail integration? Is this integrated with your platform (web app) or with a CRM (and which CRM are you using, if any)?
j
@Daniel Secareanu it is a web app, Hubspot is integrated into it
d
Can you detail the actual flow that takes place? Someone receives an email (Gmail, sent from an email account that is integrated with HubSpot?) and clicks on a link in that email and goes to your site and signs up for your web app? I’m not sure I understand the source (Gmail) and the destination (sign up process) and how is that integrated with the web app. I know how HubSpot integrates with Gmail.
This is a way to identify in HubSpot sign ups (conversions) that are coming from Gmail.
j
Thank you for taking the time to prod into this. The gmail sign up is integrated direcvtly into our sign up process. nI will check out that option you sent in!
d
Ah, you mean the sign in integration with Google/Gmail… I thought you were talking about a user coming from Gmail.
There’s a few ways to measure that: • first would be to track clicks on that button, need to configure a click event in GA (through GTM) based on the class or id of that element • second would be to track used id’s in GA/GTM and tie that up with that button
Depends if you use GA3 or GA4 - but should look at GA4 already
j
GA4, this should be enough to get me through! Thank you for all your help 🙂
