HELP! 🥹 We're trying to change our domain and revamp our web design. This means a big change with our marketing efforts including SEO. But the revamp will happen in about a month, and we don't want to stop our SEO efforts, especially the backlinks. There's two things that we have in mind: • Push the SEO backlinks/outreach - meaning we will still reach out to other websites and ask them to do a paid or free link exchange or guest blog post or; • Stop our backlink efforts - but this will stop our SEO efforts. What do you think should we do, and what are the pros and cons?

If doing domain migration correctly, you'll be 301 redirecting the old domain name, so the PageRank will flow from backlinks pointing to old domain to the new domain

Also post migration, you can contact any old backlink publishers and request they update the domain to the new one

So we have to manually email each websites to update our domain backlinks? Also for the meantime, what do you think is better, push the seo backlinks and just manually email each sites or stop our backlinking efforts for a moment?

Like Max said I don't think the domain change should affect your existing for future SEO plans. The old domain simply starts redirecting to new domain. This is assuming you still own the old domain. So reaching out to websites to update existing links is optional. you can start using the new domain in all your new links
i
I see. Do you think it's better for us to stop in getting backlinks for the old domain while waiting for the new one? Or should we just continue, and just reach out to new ones with the new domain? Because if it's the former, I think it'll just be a waste of time. But am I wrong?

Don't stop getting backlinks. Just redirect them (301) once you update to your new site. It's not a waste of time to keep efforts going. Authority from the links should transfer when you do the 301 redirect.

Like all the Max, Sameer and Paxton have mentioned. You should continue the backlink efforts. The key is in ensuring every single page has an equivalent page and is connected correctly with a 301 redirect. I recently helped a company do the migration. We mapped out every single page and what the future link is going to be. (on a google sheet) This included 55 pages + 58 blogs. During the mapping process we realized a lot of useless pages were there and also an entire 10 pages that we completely might have missed if we had not mapped If this is missed then the backlink efforts goes to a complete waste.

Hi @Iya Mendoza If you're planning to change your domain and revamp your web design, it's important to carefully consider your options for SEO backlink outreach. If you continue the SEO backlinks/outreach - The advantages that it will keep on building your backlinks and improve your s your ranking which will definitely also increase traffic in leads on your website. But the disadvantage is that if you domain changes significantly the battlings might not be relevant anymore and could potentially harm your SEO efforts. If you stop the backlink efforts -You can avoid confusion and errors from building backlinks to a website that is being revamped and can focus on the website revamp. Flipside is that it might lead to a decrease in website and lead traffic over time. It all comes down to what is your company's long-term goal.
