Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how excruciatingly difficult it is for us marketers to share stories of failure, even if they are so necessary to success. I’d love to know everyone’s thoughts on how we can make it easier to be more open and also educate CEOs and their leadership teams on the topic… it’s totally unrealistic to expect most marketing initiatives to succeed and by doing so it puts the breaks on creativity and risk taking. The status quo feels safest in that case… I’m hoping to change that culture of perfection somehow and get things started by sharing scary marketing stories around a virtual Halloween campfire on LinkedIn.
