has anyone had any experience with launching an AppSumo campaign for their SaaS product? Good idea, bad idea?

What are you trying to achieve? If you are expecting to make money you won't. Appsumo takes like 60% of the revenue (might not be accurate but they take a big percentage). IMO - it's worth it if you are trying to validate your product. You will get a bunch of early adopters and you can use their feedback to shape your product. Take into consideration that this will be a LTD customers so are you able to carry them?

We had an LTD a couple of months ago and now we just finished another 5-day campaign. This picture is worth a thousand words. It’s the breakdown by source. As you can see, their email database is key. You can promote your LTD to facebook groups and other communities, but I don’t think you’ll gonna reach that amount anytime soon. Another important point is your product: • do you have a virality build into your product? - the more users are using your product the more users you’ll get - then the answer is definitely GO FOR IT • do you have high maintenance fees per user? then definitely NO

this is great. And in terms of rev share, they’re asking for 80/20. Is that standard or did you negotiate a different rate?

We launched a Appsumo deal as well: https://appsumo.com/products/afosto-instant-search/ But we weren't nearly as successfull as you 🙂 I'm planning to do another one with a LTD for this product would you be able to have a look at it and share your thoughts on how to improve our listing?
