What kind of TLDs do you all use (.com, .org etc) for products/projects/startups? I just bought one called unfoc.us which is a "cute" tld but I'm not sure if it's exactly good for users because it's too niche in a way. So I got unfocus.app as well since it's, well, an app, just in case, but I'm wondering whether I'm right that users will think the pun-like unfoc.us is too niche for them to take seriously. Leaning towards just using the .us as a redirect to the .app

Nothing bests a .com .io & .co tld

I’ve decided to go with the classic “.com” for the Investorean.com
But I think there’s not much difference nowadays, google is handling all domains in the same way, from what I know

consider a .tech as well. imo it should give the user an indication of what you are offering.

I’m a fan of non standard domains, but I also use .com or .io when more appropriate let’s say. For example I’m now torn between a nichecareers.com and a niche.jobs domain 🙂.

@Daniel Secareanu that’s understandable, both are quite nice!

@Daniel Secareanu You could try what I did, test out both domains for a while and make the less popular one redirect to the more popular one

the best is the .com but in general people aren’t looking a lot about it. unless it’s usness one like .ninja or .xyz. if your .com have been took you can check if .net .org .ai .app .co (.ca .fr .uk) are available too
a
How do you mean less popular? From an SEO perspective there is no difference between legacy or nTLDs. It's about 'vanity'. Infact it's tough to find a memorable name with a .com - you have to move onto more complicated derivatives. Even .io &.co are saturated. Look at newer based on categories/ value prop that you are offering.

I actually found a nice .com, but the searches are mainly for the .jobs one (not as brand domain, but as keywords). It’s about revopscareers.com (where I actually started the project already) and revops.jobs (which I just purchased recently and redirected it to the .com domain for now). But I like the .jobs one more, I think, and also most searches are for revops jobs or rev ops jobs as people search for jobs, not really careers. 🙂 But revopscareers.com seem more classy, more upscale. 🙂

We used .com for frescopad.com, but for the app we used the same domain with app.frescopad.com at the beginning to differentiate it
