Hi all, wondering if anyone here has any creative suggestions outside of Reddit for marketing open source projects. We've used Reddit very successfully, but are looking to expand outside of there in terms of promotion effort. Our project is a networking tool used by very technical business IT people.
We've used Medium articles and YouTube videos pretty successfully. Product listing sites have not been as useful.

You can try Hacker News

We have tried there, the issue seems to be the sheer volume of posts. Anything we post gets buried within 15 minutes. Though I know some projects hit a sweet spot which gets them tons of visibility.

@Alex I am not sure what you’re looking for. New members in the network, or new developers for the open source development?

Looking for new users of the project. It's like a tool that IT people would use for doing some virtual networking things.

for Reddit it was just all about finding the right community. We found a few that were very relevant to what we were building, and would just post there every month or so with updates, and got some great engagement.

Anyone here need help with Reddit? I download all 300GB+ of comments from Reddit per month and run some nerd magic on it to understand how people in one subreddit belong in another, so I can give you lookalike audiences for Reddit. Here's an example for r/iPhone
