I go to G2 or Capterra and look for reviews of alternatives and see if I can find something that is cheaper and better.

@Stefan Despotovski yea I do that too. The issue I find is there are like tens and hundreds of similar products. I bet for every product, there are like five free ones. Some feature overlap and some don't. Lots of time invested just to figure the gotchas…
